Point to Ponder
"The secret
of getting ahead is getting started. The secret to getting started
is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable
tasks and then starting on the first one." Mark Twain
Somehow I have always liked the concept of the waves coming in and cleaning the
beach. Out with the old and in with the new, clean, uncluttered
sand. Something wonderful about the sound of the surf and the
touch of the sun on my face.
Each year we
get the chance to start over (actually each day) with
a clean slate and an open, creative mind. We can visualize what
we want to accomplish, then start building solid foundations
beneath it. When you build on a solid foundation, what
you build has a better chance to survive the tests and trials
that will un-doubtedly come against it. When you build
on shaky sand, well... you know the rest.
What do you
want to build this year?
- A stronger, more
healthy body?
- A stronger, more
loving relationship?
- A stronger, more
profitable business?
- A stronger, more
productive career?
- A stronger, more
expansive network?
- or?
These are only a few of the questions you might want to ask
as you move into this new year. But they are only a part of the equation you need
to succeed.
- What do you need
to do, change, or acquire in order to make them real?
- Who do you need
to ask for help to make them come alive?
- What do you need
to let go of, in order to confidently move forward?
- What habits do you
need to either acquire or defeat in order to win?
- Where do you need
to start?
- When will you start?
- What checklists
or accountability points do you need in place?
Wishing you and yours the very best for this
new year. May it be the most amazing one you have experienced
so far.
Until next month,
Bob 'Idea Man' Hooey

Last Minute
News
As of today
(Wed. Jan 2nd) our Jan 12th Edmonton Speaking for
Success boot camp is only 5 spots from a sell out. This
will be a great way to start the year - helping our participants
challenge their fears and hone their skills.
Just booked Irene's birthday
cruise for later this month. We'll fly down to Ft.
Lauderdale and spend 4 or 5 days and then leave Sunday (27th)
for a 7 night cruise from Miami which will take us to Nassau,
St Thomas (her birthday), San Juan, and Grand Turk.Told her
it may not be as romantic as her one in Paris, but it will be
warmer.
Then we'll spend a few days in Miami before
flying home. Great that we have such great neighbors
to kittie sit for us while we are away.
Irene says
I spoil her. Maybe so, but I love it; and in this case,
I get spoiled a bit too. Two weeks of sand, surf, and sun is
a nice break from winter. Plus, she can use her new underwater
camera she got from Santa.
We're looking at doing
something similar in March and flying down to California. Hope
to spend some time with friends in the San Diego area and then
go exploring. Irene has never been to California (except for
our brief stop enroute to Las Vegas when we got married.) Might
even show her where I grew up in Ventura. We moved back to Canada
when I was 14. Bet it has changed a lot in the last 50 years.
